The Frances C. Richmond Middle School is contacted by local businesses and non-profits to make our parents aware of upcoming opportunities. We publish information that directly supports or enhances our grade 6-8 population. Please note that these are not school sponsored events.

STEM@TheNugget 2019-2020 Movie Series! - Monday, October 14.
We are happy to announce the continuation of last year's STEM@TheNugget movie series sponsored by the Office of the Associate Dean for the Sciences at Dartmouth College. This year's first show will take place on Monday, October 14 (Indigenous Peoples Day) and will be the Pixar animated hit "Inside Out". Doors open at 12:15, free admission and a coupon for a free popcorn and drink are provided. No outside food please. The movie will be followed by a Q&A with Dartmouth Professor of Psychology and Brain Sciences Kate Nautiyal who will talk a little bit about the neuroscience ideas in the movie and then answer questions. There will also be a raffle for an Amazon gift card.

Chad HERO Event
The 14th annual CHaD HERO will take place on Sunday, October 20, on the Dartmouth College Green in Hanover, NH. This amazing and fun event raises funds for the kids and programs at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD). Participants can test their superhero powers on Cam’s Course, a one mile family fun run, walk or run a 5K, do a 5 mile wooded hike, bike 25 or 50 miles, or run a Half Marathon. The event also includes a family-friendly street party and a KidZone full of activities. The best news is: youth participants (23 and under) can receive a 2:1 match from The Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation for dollars raised above their fundraising minimums – up to $150,000! Marine Biology Trip - Spots still available
UPPER VALLEY KIDS TRAVEL is organizing another trip to MARINE LAB in Key Largo Florida (see Marinelab.org) for the 2020 spring break. There are still spots available. I will be holding a parent/kid meeting about this amazing opportunity at the Crossroads Academy library next Wednesday evening (10/16) at 7:00. Host Families Needed
The New England Music Festival Association (NEMFA.ORG) organizes an annual weekend of choral, band and orchestra concerts featuring the most talented high school musicians throughout New England. Hanover High School will be hosting the event on March 19, 20 and 21, 2020. The students attending the event stay with local families who provide accommodation, meals and transportation over the course of their stay.
We need local host families for 400+ participants from pick up at 8pm Thursday through final drop off Saturday morning. The hosts’ responsibilities include giving two or more students a place to sleep Thursday and Friday night, a breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning, a dinner on Friday evening, and transportation at the following times (schedule is subject to change):

Attend a mandatory host family meeting at 8pm at Hanover High School, Thursday March 19th,

Pick up students Thursday evening at 9pm at Hanover High School (following the host family meeting); curfew 11pm,

Ride to Hanover High School on Friday morning to arrive by 8am,

Pick up students at 5:15pm on Friday evening for dinner and evening activities at host family home (pick up is Hanover High School for chorus students and Dartmouth’s Spaulding Auditorium for band/orchestra students). No evening rehearsal. Curfew 11pm.

Final ride to rehearsals/performances Saturday at 9am. All students will need to drop luggage at Spaulding Auditorium in Alumni Hall upstairs and then band/orchestra members will need to be dropped off at Hanover High School with their instruments and dress clothes (chorus students stay at Spaulding). This will complete your responsibility.
Host volunteers must complete a Housing Form and provide names, social security numbers, birth dates and phone numbers for all adult members of the household for a background check.
