Dear RMS Community:
This week the academic creativity and fun that is the hallmark of RMS was on full display. Our Spanish students followed their own Camino de Santiago, an historical pilgrimage, making choices and learning along the way. This was another amazing way our teachers take learning outside of the classroom, moving what we do into the “real world.”
Today we were able to partake in another outdoor activity of learning and fun when the 8th grade participated in our traditional “balloon launch.” Cohorted and distanced for safety, teams of 8th graders filled and launched their tissue paper and mylar balloon high into the air over the Rugby fields on Reservoir Road. Again, the teamwork and joy of learning was readily evident as we slowly return to our time honored traditions. While we are still crunching the data, anecdotal evidence points to a record number of flights longer than 4 minutes. Congratulations to Mr. Stott, Ms. Bennett, the 8th grade team, and all the 8th graders! The Remote Learning Academy will hold their launch (weather permitting) tomorrow.
- We continue to plan for end of year celebrations, negotiating new protocols and openings as we go. Some quick, and important updates:
- We await word from NH and/or VT about the availability of vaccines for 12-15 year olds (information below).
- Join us Wednesday night for a parent workshop of student mental health in the time of COVID.
Hosted by the RMS Counseling Office over zoom on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 PM.
