Good Afternoon RMS Family:
Happy Friday! To maintain the illusion of normalcy, I will remind you that this weekend is homework free (huzzah!). It should be a wonderful unofficial start to the summer, and we hope you will be able to partake in some outdoor fun (I intend to break a new grill, which only took me 3 hours to assemble). In the midst of our celebrations this weekend, please remember the reason for Monday’s holiday - those who lost their lives in the defense of our country. In a time of trouble, the history teacher in me hearkens back to Lincoln, who put into words over 100 years ago, the meaning and importance of that sacrifice, and the charge given to those of us who remain. I think the current situation brings new pertinence to these important words - that we are stronger and better together.
It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. - Abraham Lincoln (always cite your sources)
Next week we will publish a list of summer resources for parents and students, one that we hope to expand upon as summer advances. Until then, please enjoy the Friday Focus on community.
6th and 7th Grade Parents - Please see below for a great opportunity from one of our parents.
Thank you, as always, for all you have done and continue to do for our students, our school, and our community. What a wonderful place.
