Dear RMS Community:
Well, the weather was the main story this week. The snow/sleet/ice certainly slowed us all down this week, though I hope we could all enjoy the respite. My experience of middle school tells me the pace of life and school accelerates as the year goes on. We find ourselves planning for transitions to next year (upcoming 7th-grade parent meetings, 8th-grade placement tests, scheduling 5th grade parent nights) while undertaking projects for the end of this year (theatre auditions, the obstacle course competition, and even preliminary discussions of colors day). All the while we cannot avoid the cacophony of voices raised in the rancorous political battle that seems to rage non-stop. Maybe taking time to just enjoy the quiet of a snowy day was what we all needed. Or, we could take some time to work on the puzzles that sit outside our health office - offered to students and staff as a way to build some quiet into the day.
Next week will be full as we try to reschedule events lost to the snow so that we are back on schedule before February break. The 7th grade will experience operation amputation at the start of the week, and the 8th grade will partake in placement tests on Monday and the Renaissance Festival at the end of the week. Also, see below for new health news from our health center.
As always we welcome any and all visitors for these special events, or any other reasons for a quick visit. Come browse our selection of new books written in authentic voices, browse the numerous art/classroom projects on the walls, or just take some time with the puzzle. Great things happen at RMS and we love to share.
Enjoy the weekend. Thank you for your commitment to our students and our school.
