Frances C. Richmond Middle School

Friday, August 30, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

What a great first three days of school!  We enjoyed welcoming (and welcoming back) the students to RMS this week.  Thank you for all you have done to make the start of school run smoothly. We look forward to many more great weeks.

This weekend marks our first homework free holiday of the year.  RMS understands that time to play, explore, and enjoy family traditions is as vital to middle school learning as guided practice of academic skills.  Because of this we like to implement various homework free holidays throughout the year. Teachers will not assign homework during these times, nor will they give tests on the day following.

A quick reminder.  Please drop off and pick up students in the “cut-outs” along Lyme road.  The teacher lot (north of school) is not for student drop-off as it causes traffic back ups and snarls, as well as dangerous traffic patterns.  Thank you for your understanding.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Tim Boyle

Associate Principal’s Intro

This year I have transitioned from the classroom into the role of Associate Principal.  As a long-time member of the RMS staff, the opportunity to work with our community in a different way is exciting.  In addition to collaborating with Principal Boyle on day-to-day operations and long-term initiatives I will support student learning through scheduling and supporting the work of our staff.

Upcoming Events at RMS

Parent Coffee

8:10-9:00am - Tuesday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th.

New to the area?  New to RMS? Wondering about the elective schedule, or just where to cut your hair, fix your car, or get some dinner?  Let RMS offer some help. Come by for some coffee and to meet with “veteran” parents who know the ins and outs of the Upper Valley.

Please park in the drop off “cut outs” along Lyme road (there is limited space in the teacher lots), and join us for coffee and sharing of information.  Thank you to Kerry Artman, our District Volunteer Coordinator, for helping with organization.

Student Planners:

If your 8th grade student would like to purchase a customized RMS Student Planner (also contains the RMS Handbook), the cost is $5.00 and can be purchased in the main office.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for six parent/guardian chaperones for the first RMS Dance, which will be held on Friday, September 20. Chaperones keep an eye on the lobby area from 6:50 - 9:00 p.m.  If you are interested in volunteering, please sign-up here.

The RMS Student Flu Clinic will be held on Thursday, October 3rd.  We are looking for three parents/guardians to assist with traffic flow and to aid students as needed from 8:00 - 12:30.  Parents do not need a medical background to help. If you are available to volunteer, please sign-up here.

Thank you!
