Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Mornings at RMS are special.  The day starts quietly with a short walk from the front office to the gym, past quietly reading students who often stop to say good morning to other students and staff.  Once in the gym, Mr. Atkinson and I start the tradition of basketball at one end and indoor soccer at the other. The rules to these games are informal, student policed, and long-standing.  All students are welcome and treated fairly. Wednesday this week we had over 50 students in the gym in the morning - 6th, 7th, and 8th graders representing the full range of our community, expert players and beginners.  All were engaged, positive, and caring. When the time came to stop, everyone walked into the lobby to greet the rest of the students and wait for the hand rung bell to start the day. Students stand in groups of friends, talking, laughing, and planning the day with students from many other groups as well.  It is a remarkably calm and enjoyable way to start a school day. Just another reminder of the unique community that is RMS.

We are looking forward to a great November at RMS.  We start this week with a celebration of those who have served our country, and end the month with a time to give thanks.  Report cards will be available on Friday. Please contact us on Tuesday, November 12th with any questions or concerns. Enjoy the time with family and friends on this homework-free long weekend.

Warmly,
