Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is talent show week! RMS is full of incredibly talented students. Middle schoolers seem to naturally fight against the growing specialization of today’s society and are happy to show off their multiple talents. This week I enjoyed students in the advanced strings class perform a “Pop Up Mozart” in the lobby, listened to numerous 8th graders reciting To a Mouse by Robert Burns in hallways in preparation for class, witnessed incredible musical and gymnastic routines in talent show rehearsals, and marveled at the wonderful drawings on the Indian Travel Journals. More striking was the fact that I saw many students in more than one of these venues. I am forever refreshed by the optimism and belief of the students who believe (and show) that they can be good at everything. I try to emulate their willingness to take chances, to learn new things, and to believe in themselves. And, as always, I am thankful for the RMS community that fosters and embraces all our students.
We will get a chance tonight to witness these talents at the Winter Talent show. Starting at 7:00 in the auditorium, the show is open to family and friends. Admission $5. Please join us.
Next week is a short week, and we will start our homework free break on Tuesday. Enjoy a safe and fun weekend.
The first newscast of the new quarter can be found at this link.
After School Study
NO after school study the week of November 25th. Monday is Turkey Bowl, and Tuesday begins our homework free Thanksgiving.
Need Ugly Sweaters!
The "Ugly Sweaters" elective is still seeking sweater donations - all sizes and colors. Ninety students will be creating designs on existing sweaters this quarter! Please look through your closets. Sweatshirts and fleeces accepted, as well. Thank you. Sweaters can be sent to the office, we will make sure Ms. Luce gets them.
We are looking for four parents/guardians to join our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade French classes on a field trip to the HOP at Dartmouth on Friday, December 6th, from 9:30 - 11:45 am. Students and chaperones will enjoy a performance by FLIP Fabrique. Chaperones will meet Kerry Artman in the entryway to the HOP at 9:30; students will arrive shortly after. Volunteers will need to feel comfortable reminding students to behave in a polite, positive, appropriate manner in the audience before, during and after the show, as needed.
If you are interested in chaperoning this field trip, please sign-up here. Thank you!
New Attendance Email
We are trying to streamline our attendance email, and as a result, we have a new email address for absences. In the future please email: rmsattendance@
With any and all attendance issues. Thank you.
RMS Health Office Updates
Does your child need to take a prescription medication during school hours? Students must keep all prescription medications in the health office and have a signed medication form as well. The medication form and additional information can be found here: Health Office
